The new Immigration Act that entered into force in 2024 states that in the case of extending certain residence permits and when applying for permanent settlement permits, it must be proven that the foreigner meets the conditions for social coexistence. In certain cases, this means passing a written exam in Hungarian prior to filing the application for the residence permit.
